How long is this trip and where do we go?
This is a 4 hour trip. In order to reach the best fishing spots, it requires a roundtrip cruising time of at least 2 hours which allows for up to 2 hours of fishing time. The exact location depends on the sea conditions, weather, tides, winds and currents.

 

Is the tour guaranteed to run even if our group is less than 6 people?

Yes. This tour requires a minimum of 6 booked spots to run. Smaller groups must still book 6 spots. We can host up to 2 groups per trip, and once booked, your trip is guaranteed.

Is all fishing equipment provided or can I bring my own?

Fishing poles, hooks, buckets, spares and thermal suits are available onboard. Boots, gloves, hats and personal items can be purchased and prepared for you in advance if requested. If you have your own favorite deep sea fishing equipment that you want to bring with you, you are welcome to do so and you are responsible for your own equipment. ​ ​

 

Can I take the fish that I catch with me? What if I don't want it?

You have the option to either take it home with you or enjoy it onboard. We do not offer air vacuumed packing or shipping services for flights or international travel. If you choose not to take the fish home or consume it during the tour, we have arrangements to serve it to other guests onboard or donate it to the people in the local community who have lost someone in the fishing industry. World Sea Explorers AS is a registered tourist fishing enterprise with the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries, so you are able to bring the allowed quota of the fish you caught when you leave Norway by submitting the proper documentation to customs.​​

 

Will the trip be cancelled if it's raining?

Our fishing tour will continue rain or shine. If the weather conditions are unsafe (high winds or storms), we will cancel the tour and either reschedule or provide a full refund. Sailing Yacht Stella Oceana, our ship, has warm indoor spaces so you can opt to stay warm and dry in between fishing spots.  If you wear warm layers and waterproof clothing, you'll easily be able to enjoy the whole tour outside.

 

What kind of fish will I catch?

Common types of fish in the area are cod, pollock and redfish. ​

 

What is available for food?

A traditional Norwegian Fish Soup with your fresh caught fish and bread; If you do not catch a fish, a salmon soup will be prepared. Ⓥ If you are vegetarian or vegan, a traditional Norwegian root vegetable soup option is available if notified in advance. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, water and cookies are included in the price and available throughout the tour.​

 

What wildlife/animals will I see?

You never know what you might encounter in the sea, but some wild animals that we see are dolphin, porpoises, whales, eagles, and a variety of birds. Of course, on this adventure, the chance of seeing a cod fish is also quite high! ​

 

Will I get seasick and what if I need medical attention?

We can't guarantee that you won't get seasick, but most people don't experience this discomfort because the boat is so heavy, stable and built for the Arctic. However, in the small chance that you do get seasick, the Captain is a licensed medic, and the crew has a lot of experience to help you enjoy your trip.  Northern Norway tends to seem remote and isolated, however, you will always be sailing along the coast where help is never far away.  There are local rescue ships and the Norwegian Coast Guard is always operating throughout the entire coast.​

 

How do I get to Dyrøya?

Although Dyrøya is an island, there is a bridge that connects it to the mainland. Driving your car is the best way. For public transportation, there is an express boat (Line 2 Tromsø-Harstad) and bus stops in the town of Brøstadbotn. Tour starts and ends in Dryøyhamn.

The price per participant is the same regardless of age.

What language is spoken onboard?

English and Norwegian. Some of our guides may speak other languages, but translation services are not provided.​​

This is a alcohol free trip, and it is prohibited to bring your own.
