Frequently asked questions about this tour

What food and drinks are available?

Coffee, tea, water, hot chocolate and cookies are included. A Norwegian fish soup with local root vegetables and fresh bread will be served. A vegetarian soup can be prepared if notified in advance. There are no other food and drinks available to purchase onboard.  Alcohol is not allowed to be brought onboard.

What wildlife/animals will I see?

You never know what you might encounter in the sea, but some common animals that we see are dolphins, porpoises, white-tailed eagles, puffins, and migrating sea birds.

What is the midnight sun?

The midnight sun is a term used in Arctic and Antarctic regions for when the sun never sets and remains visible at the local midnight. This only happens in the weeks around the summer solstice in the Arctic and winter solstice in the Antarctic. In the northern hemisphere, you have to be above the Arctic Circle, latitude 66 degrees, 33 minutes north to see this phenomenon. This happens because the earth's axis is tilted with the north pole towards the sun.

Why is Norway called the land of the midnight sun?

The term “land of the midnight sun” is used by many arctic places including Norway. We use it because it quickly summarizes our summer phenomena and is a nice opposite to Northern Lights.

Where can you see the midnight sun in Norway?

To start, you have to be further north than 66 degrees, 33 minutes, the Arctic Circle. In Norway, you need to be at least around Saltdalsfjorden National Park or further north.

When to see the midnight sun in Norway?

To see the midnight sun, you will need to visit in the summer. The midnight sun lasts longer the further north you go, but in Tromsø, the midnight sun season is from around late May to early August.

What to wear on a sunset boat cruise?

On a sunset boat cruise in Norway, you will want to wear comfortable clothes such as a long sleeve shirt and long pants. The water and wind can still be chilly in summer, so having a warm jacket, hat, and gloves and ensuring you have layers to put on to stay warm is essential. You may also want to bring a sunhat and sunglasses.

Can I do the polar plunge without booking the hot tub upgrade?

Unfortunately not.

Do you have swim wear to rent or buy onboard for the hot tub?

No. Your own swim wear is required to get in the hot tub. You are not allowed to enter the hot tub in pajamas, regular clothes, workout/athletic clothing, your underwear, or nude.
